Short Distance Race (e.g., 50 metres)
1. What is a Short Distance Race?
- A short-distance race is a quick running competition where runners go from a starting line to a finish line.
- The 50-metre race is a popular short-distance race that is 50 meters long, which is about the same as five big steps for most children.
2. The Starting Line
- The starting line is where the race begins. Runners stand behind this line until the race starts.
- It’s important to get ready in the right position, like bending your knees and getting set to run fast.
3. Running Technique
- Good Posture: Keep your head up and your back straight while you run.
- Arm Movement: Use your arms to help you run faster. Move them back and forth at your sides.
- Leg Movement: Lift your knees up high and push off the ground with your feet to go fast.
4. The Finish Line
- The finish line is where the race ends. You should run as fast as you can to cross this line.
- After finishing, you can slow down and catch your breath.
5. Sportsmanship
- Cheering for your friends is very important!
- Good sportsmanship means being happy for others and encouraging them, whether you win or lose.
6. Safety Tips
- Always wear comfortable shoes when running.
- Make sure there is enough space to run safely without bumping into anyone.
