Instructional Objectives
At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Define the concept of values and give examples of national values in Nigeria.
- Identify and explain at least three national values that contribute to the development of society.
- Participate in group discussions about the importance of national values and how they can be demonstrated in daily life.
Entry Behaviour
Pupils should already know what values are in general and have some awareness of societal norms and expectations.

What are Values?
Values are the good qualities, ideas, or actions that guide the way people live. They help us know what is right and wrong and how to behave in society.
What are National Values?
National values are the important beliefs or practices that unite people in a country. These values help everyone live together peacefully and show respect for their nation.
Why Are National Values Important?
- Bringing people together: They help people from different backgrounds work as one.
- Promoting peace: They teach respect and fairness to everyone.
- Building a better nation: When everyone follows good values, the country grows stronger.
Examples of National Values
- Honesty: Always telling the truth and doing the right thing.
- Respect: Treating others kindly and valuing their opinions.
