Content
Volleyball is a fun and exciting team sport played on a rectangular court divided by a net. The main goal in volleyball is to score points by hitting the ball over the net and into the opponent’s court. Each team tries to prevent the ball from touching the ground on their side while trying to make it touch the ground on the opponent’s side.

1. History of Volleyball
Volleyball was created by a man named William G. Morgan in the United States. He wanted a sport that was less intense than basketball. When it was first invented, the game was called “Mintonette.” It was designed to be a fun alternative to basketball. The sport became more popular over time and went through some rule changes. It was eventually renamed “volleyball” because players volleyed (hit) the ball back and forth over the net. Some of the key changes included adding the volleyball net and creating official rules for the game. These changes helped volleyball become the exciting sport we play today!
2. Basic Skills and Techniques in Volleyball
Serving: This is how you start the game. You hit the ball over the net to the other team’s side. It’s the first chance to get the ball into play.
Passing: Also called “bumping,” this is when you use your forearms to gently direct the ball to a teammate. It’s like a controlled push to help your team get ready for the next move.
Setting: This skill involves using your fingers to push the ball up into the air, making it easier for a teammate to hit it hard. It’s like setting up a perfect shot for someone else to spike.
Spiking: This is when you hit the ball with a lot of force to try and make it land on the other team’s side. It’s an exciting way to score points and show off your power!
